My gran died 18 April 1951 in Manchester district and was cremated, yet when I search the on line records her name doesn't come up.  I have no idea why, so perhaps some of the records just aren't on line yet.
Lizzie, Manchester Crematorium is a private company with no connection to the council so I wouldn't expect their records to be online. However I believe they are quite helpful when receiving enquiries.
Others should note that their prewar records were destroyed in the Manchester blitz, but the local family history society have recorded the remaining memorial plaques.

Plimmerian, Altrincham crematorian seems to be used by quite a wide area, I would definitely check there.

As my gran lived in Harpurhey, I imagine she was cremated at Blackley Crematorium which is on the Manchester on line records.  I was considered too young to go to her funeral, although I was 10 at the time (and that of my other gran some 4 years earlier).
