No, that cap is WW2,ordinary soldiers wore a peaked cap in WW1.
Bring up some WW1 photos and you will see what I mean.
Now that is Officers headwear, and ordinary ranks wear berets.
By the grenades on his collar he was possibly a Grenadier.
Someone with more knowledge will be more accurate.
Viktoria.

Thanks for your Input
But Collar Badge - Not Grenadier or Royal Artillery
More like Royal Fusiliers?

Definitely not my area of expertise so not sure if this helps - realised the photo has some similarities to one of my late Dad which I’m guessing was taken pre WW2. He would have been a private at the time. He started with the Green Howards then transferred to the Royal Engineers in 1937.

Looking forward to the expert’s conclusions.

Seeing both photos together realised the cap badges are different but lapel badges seem similar?

R.F. collar 'dogs' have a more rounded plume. The difference between Royal Engineers/ Royal Artillery as far as I remember is RE has 9 plumes, RA has 7. Cant make out from image which, but would def say either RE or RA.
