Deep navigation Colliery Death 1963
« on: Thursday 16 November 23 13:34 GMT (UK) »
Hello all,

I am researching my family and I have been looking for information on a family member of mine that was killed in the Deep Navigation Colliery.

The name of the Relative is William Edward Samuel, he was born in 1901-1963.

I have emailed Glamorgan archives and they have not got any information they can give me.

I assume that you know that Administration was granted to his widow, Elizabeth Jane on 6 July 1965 and the address given was 13 Windsor Road, Edwardsville, Treharris.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I think so, I have a small newspaper clipping that talks about the funeral and how he died, but I wanted to know more information regarding any mine records

Have you tried Welsh newspapers online for more information, they may be an  inquest report.  Also by then coal mines were inthe charge of the NCB (National Coal Board) so there may be some archived records somewhere

welshcoalmines.co.uk seem to have a forum where you may get some more help.

Depending on what you're after the South Wales Miners Library may be able to help

https://www.swansea.ac.uk/library/south-wales-miners-library/collections-resources/

Looks like they have Deep Nav NUM lodge records from the 1960s

At a guess the cutting's from the South Wales Echo or Merthyr Express
