You can find the 1891 census for Lambeth Workhouse starting at RG 12/397/137/1
alternatively search for Robert Clinton born Herefordshire 1854 will take you to the same page.

Edit :apologies I'm now not sure about that one, it's on the Princes Road site not Renfrew Road

Ignore my previous posting.

For Renfrew Road you need RG 12 / 397 / 115 /1

Thanks Jen B,
After ploughing through all the pages for both inmates and patients I wasn't able to find my Great, Great Grandmother. I have a record for her in 1881 and her likely DC for 1897 but searching has not revealed where she was for the 1891 census. Her family remained in the Lambeth/Brixton area. I have a probate record for 1885 when her husband died.
Thanks once again for your help.
The amount of writing and penmanship of those taking the censuses back then is commendable.
Mildred

Her birth name was Sarah Ann Mummery from Southchurch, Harwich, Essex. She was baptised (no DOB) in November 1824.
She married John Cottingham in Harwich and was generally recorded as Sarah Cottingham. They were in London in 1861 where they seemed to have stayed and raised their family. I have reliable records for them for 1871 and 1881.
Thanks for any help. If her DC is correct she died in Brook Street, Infirmary but it only records her name as Sarah Cottingham. I'm a bit surprised there's no mention of family members on the DC.

Age is wrong, but this is very likely her in 1891 I think?

RG 12 / 416 / 71 / 39

40, Overton Road, Brixton

Sarah Cottengham, visitor, widow, 76, caretaker, Essex Harwich.

I'm very impressed.
It does seem to be her. It looks like 75, looking at other 5s on the sheet. That age doesn't align with the DOB I have but the Harwich Essex certainly does. But, why wasn't she living with her family? Brixton is definitely the area they seemed to be living. Maybe she was doing a bit of work in the house for her living costs. Why didn't it come up in other searches for me? I'd tried other spellings of names before.
Thankyou very much.
I'll be posting other questions soon as a couple of us are struggling on one family branch.
