... Witnesses Bradshaw Allister and Margaret McDill

Excellent stuff.

RootsIreland doesn't show any baptisms of a William or Margaret for parents Thomas and Hannah Madill around the time indicated by the 1861 census.  There was a son John baptised in 1841 in the Church of Ireland (Drum, Currin) for a Thomas Madill and Hanna McCartney of Drumacreeve, Aghabog, but that's all I can see, so may not be them.

By my reckoning, Newbliss is about 7 miles NW of Drumacreeve, so just a maybe for now.

More maybes.

The tithe applotment books list two people called Thomas Madill, both happen to be in Co. Monaghan, one in Aghafin in Clones CP (year reference 1832), the other in Lisdarragh in Killeevan CP (year reference 1825), which is as close to Newbliss as one could get.

Thank you very much everyone, some great stuff here which is building the picture….there looks to be a connection between those neighbouring families (esp as Bradshaw was a witness to the son’s marriage)….

.. But can anyone locate the elusive baptisms for the couple and their marriage? Is there anywhere else we can look for them please?
