I understand this gentleman deserted the 70th Foot in Colchester on 14/02/1864 (Regimental
Number : 1096)
Sadly, despite researching all sources I'm aware of, I can find no details of his enlistment and (?) continued service. I wonder if anyone could kindly help in this regard.

Addendum: I have just discovered he was court martialled on 27/06/1870 in Limerick, Ireland, for desertion from the 70th and was sentenced to 84 days hard labour. It was further noted he was discharged on 17/09/1870, but whether this means discharged from his sentence or the army is unclear.
