This should get you there.

I think that the last episode called Secrets should be Mandatory for all Roots Chat members to listen to, it is one of the reasons why I am now so adamant that without DNA validating a family line in your tree, said line is just a series of people who may or may not be related to you.

My own DNA test proved to me that despite all the paperwork and documentation being there in my tree on a specific line said line has NO biological relationship with me, an NPE occurred.

Thank you, this is an interesting series.

Glad you are enjoying the series.

Thank you for pointing these podcasts out. Listened to most all very interesting, would agree with you on the secrets one. Would help some people save money on the paper trail if they have DNA testing first.

You are welcome Cas.

I have changed my views on when to take a DNA test since we first took ours eight years ago.

I firmly believe that any Newbie should start with gathering family information and take a DNA test, as well as a Sibling, and Cousins, plus any known Second Cousins.  Plenty of cross checking and comparison of Shared Matches will help to validate the standard documentation/certification system with the effect that all directly related persons in the family tree to 2xGGP level will eventually have a DNA match with who you share that parental pair.

Thus a solid foundation of a family tree.

Without DNA validation one could argue that the Certificate is not worth the paper it is written on.
