The Manx Hotel
« on: Friday 24 November 23 22:31 GMT (UK) »
My Great Grandad Joseph Corkish owned the Manx Hotel at 63 Mount Pleasant Street and another named the Liverpool Hotel nearby in the 30's and 40's.
He died in 1947 and his daughter Mary got the hotels to our knowledge.
The Manx has been demolished but just wondered if anyone had any photos or details regarding its ownership, or guests etc..
Any info or pointers for my research would be greatly appreciated.
Rob.

Do you have his will as that may indicate how his property was divided

Thankyou Heywood, i received the will lastnight and it revealed that his hotel was named the Snaefell Hotel which it seems was located at Mount Pleasant Street.

Glad to hear.
Is it solved now?
Did Mary marry James Bradley?
1938/39 Electoral registers show Joseph Corkish at 63 Mount Pleasant.
James and Mary Bradley are at 89, Mount Pleasant.

There were no registers during the war.

1945 shows Joseph but the Bradleys are not at 89.
1948, after Joseph’s death - different people at 63.
