The 100 year rule may apply, so you might have to proove the family connection to get anything.

Thank you! That is a good idea. I hope there isn’t a 100 year rule! I know a very little about Swiss Cantons and registrations but wasn’t sure if it applied then.
Im already ahead of myself! Its only guesswork /gut feeling that she was not in the UK. The now UN records office was clear that she was shorthand typist, but on her career path for promotion I do not think she ever achieved diplomatic status.

It may be difficult.

….but still worth a try 😁

I would still ask Geneva archives if they can find anything. I’ve had success with a similar enquiry in Lausanne, who tracked down a relative in their residents registers, though it was in the 1910s. All conducted in English!

There are other lines of enquiry. This Swiss genealogy forum has some very helpful members, and English language enquiries are readily dealt with. https://www.geneal-forum.com/phpbb/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=48
Joining instructions are in English.

Thank you so much for this glimmer of hope.
Seeing your name... this branch of my family originated in Devon.. Chulmleigh then Hatherleigh then Bampton. ;) :)

I’ve done a very basic search on some online Swiss newspapers websites without obvious success.  You may wish to try a more in depth search.

Thank you I will give it a try… though my German is rather limited.

Geneva is in the French speaking part of Switzerland. All Swiss websites have multi-language options (German, French, Italian, plus a goodly number with English as well), so look for a language option usually top right of the home page.
