Boer War Medals
« on: Saturday 25 November 23 15:19 GMT (UK) »
I know that WW1 medals were stamped on the rim with the recipient's details (name, rank, number, regiment etc), but I don't know whether Boer War medals were the same.

Can anyone help, please?

Many thanks

Fab link  :)  Thanks.

And another question, if I may?

If a man was serving in one regiment, say the ASC, but attached to (i.e. not formally transferred into) another, say the Leicesters, would his medal(s) have ASC or Leicesters on them, please?

Thanks

Good question, all my knowledge is of family medals and they were impressed with the regiment the individual was officially in, but I stand to be corrected if that is not always the case.
