St Stephens Sneinton Notts
« on: Saturday 25 November 23 22:30 GMT (UK) »
Is any one able to look at two marriages which were held at St Stephens Church Sneinton Notts  please.
One is a marriage between James Ratcliffe/ Mary Saunders  15th Sept 1846 . I am interested to know their martial status and who were the witnesses. Also for a Amelia Irons and a Joseph Richardson on the 2nd September 1847. Again I would be very interested to their martial status ages and who were the witnessed the marriage.

Thanks again for the information. I have now discovered that Joseph Richardson died in 1851 soon after retiring from the Police and that Amelia went onto marry again to another policeman, but that she also died in 1857.

The mystery I have is that Amelia was obviously married to a chap by the name of Irons. Do you have any ideas how I can find out when she married her first husband and where it was. On the 1851 census Amelia states Stoke Golding Leicestershire as were born. I have not been able to locate her in the 1841 census.

You could look for her father Stephen Ratcliffe in 1841 to see if that gives any clues.

Or look for a Mr Irons death before she married again in 1847.

When was Amelia born?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Where did Joseph die in 1851?  Nothing in Notts.  Who did Amelia then marry - when & where

We need her birthyear to establish whether her previous marriage to Irons could have been pre-1837

I can’t find the 1851 entry you mention

EDIT - 1851 is under Richards - living in Leics - Amelia b 1817
