Cheers Boo

I tried twice on Ancestry with Fold 3 with his Number and got nothing even though I knew there must be something there.

One of these Pension Cards shows he was declared Dead in December 1917 I suppose his Wife got a Shock when he returned home in 1919

When he was Aged 71 he had a Son who is now a Member in our King's Forum

If you really need to find something, 'trying twice'  often isn't enough. I did various searches, with different criteria till I got to all four.

as for the 'declared dead' I can see that by the time both Fold 3 and then Ancestry had a go at transcription 2 of the records on Ancestry are billed as 'other ranks died'  and one states his Regt was 'Twerp' (which was their shot at Liverpool. The card that declared he was a casualty ( no idea if that meant dead or just badly injured)in 1918 also says he was a POW onthe same date and then mentions he was alive in 1920.
Its the actual card that is the record, not a transcript.
