Anne Elizabeth Walker/William Walker
« on: Tuesday 28 November 23 21:54 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am just wondering if anyone can help me find my Great x 3 Grandmother and possibly her father on the 1841 census, and later census if possible.

Annie Elizabeth Walker marries in Halifax in 1852 and lists her age as 21, and her Father as William Walker, occupation Cloth Drawer. On all the later census, Annie is listed as born Huddersfield.

On the the 1861 census Annie is gives her age as being born in 1833, and on the 1871 census being born in 1838.

When Annie remarries in 1879 she lists her father as William Walker deceased, and his occupation was Cloth Finisher. Her age is given as 40, so born 1839. On the 1881 census Annie is listed as 41, so born 1840.

Annie dies in 1894, her age is given as 58, so born 1836.

Thanks in advance.

Given the variation in birth year you may struggle.  You can rule out later birthyears as she would have been underage if born after 1836.   Nothing matches on the 1841 searching just Huddersfield & there are no entries for Anne Elizabeth

In 1851 she is Anne Walker b 1831 Huddersfield working as a servant in Halifax

Have you looked for a baptism?

I dont know if Annie's name could be just Ann, Anne, Annie, or Ann Elizabeth etc.

On the 1879 marriage her father is listed as deceased, but on the 1852 marriage thats not mentioned though.

Annie had a daughter in 1853 whos name was Martha Hannah Stocks, Hannah was her Husbands mother name, so I dont know if Martha was from her own familes side.

Do you have the witness names from that marriage?  They can be helpful if relatives.

It wasn't always noted on marriages if the father was deceased or not - even if they were.

In 1871 there is a niece Ann Taylor 14 - she could be related to John rather than Anne but worth checking out in case there is a Walker link.

Birthplace for niece transcribed as London but it could be Lindon if that is in Yorkshire.

Samuel Bates and John Thomas.  John Thomas is witness on other marriages
