What about the 1887 death in Belper?  I know he was living in the Derby RD in 1881 & that Ellen’s death was registered in Derby. 

Birthyear a few years different but if you check the 1881 - there is no other Richard Collier in that age range

Ages on death registrations are dependant on the knowledge of the person reporting the death

I can't remember why I had ruled that one out, maybe because he had no family there. But I went ahead and got it and indeed it was him! He died in the Markeaton workhouse. Hope he didn't spend too long there.
