Edmund Edge 1823 Aughton Lancashire
« on: Saturday 02 December 23 10:35 GMT (UK) »
Can Anyone help?  I am seeking the marriage of Edmund Edge who according to the 1861 census had a wife Frances born circa 1821 in Cheshire, England.  They had 6 children all born in Sculcoates, Yorkshire all with the mother's maiden name of Varrow.  I have been unable to trace a marriage so any help will be appreciated.

Not all couples married of course so keep that in mind.

Frances would have been 33 in 1854 so she may have been married before and Varrow wasn’t her surname.

Have you found her as Frances Varrow in 1851?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

1851 - HO107/2186 folio 472, page 19 - Toxteth, West Derby

Edmund is listed as brother, unmarried, aged 27, occupation Porter.  Head of household is Matthew Edge.

Have you considered purchasing any of the children's birth certificates to verify the Varrow connection?  At £2.50 it might be worth a shot!

The son Stanley married as Stanley Charnock Edge.

So there is a connection to a Charnock family probably for Frances as Edmund's mother was Mercer.
