Edmund and Frances, if married, married between 1861 and 1871 as 1861 census has him single and 1871 has them married.

Have you considered purchasing any of the children's birth certificates to verify the Varrow connection?  At £2.50 it might be worth a shot!

Marriage 15 September 1851
St Mary's Church, Birkenhead, Cheshire, to Elizabeth CONELY age 18

Poll Books on Anc have a Samuel/William VEAROW in Cheshire 1834-1837

Also possible Sarah remarried;
Marriage Licences Granted within the Dincese of Chester. (Marriage)

1861 census Edmund and Frances Edge are on Thomas Street, Kingston Upon Hull with children
Stanley 6, Martha A 3 and Edmund 2.

1853 - Administration for Samuel Varow of Leftwich, bricklayer. Administrix Sarah Varow, widow and relict.
Was the Sarah who remarried in 1837 his widow and he died much earlier than the date of the administration, or a different Sarah?

Administration for a William Vearow of Leftwich in June 1837, his widow also called Sarah, she's more likely to be the one who remarried later that year
