William Buckingham and Alice Sherman North Marston

I am back to one of my brick walls.

William Buckingham married Alice Sherman in 1731 at North Marston.

I am assuming they were from N M or one of the surrounding villages.

I cant find a baptism for either of them, can anyone help?

Hi.

 Just rechecking here. The parish church of North Marston is St Mary's  now many online trees that give a marriage care of 9th November 1731 state the marriage occurred at St Peter and st Paul which is in Buckingham.

 The earliest Buckingham baptism is in 1733  Mary 21 Jan daughter of William and Alice

 Tazzie.

There is an Alice bap. 26 December 1712 to a John and Mary Sherman at Abthorpe.

It's about 19 miles from North Marston

I am confined to barracks at the moment and I have been looking through some old paperwork I have come across.

What I had was as I said the N M marriage, no idea where I got it from and then a son Samuel  born c 1754 at N M who married a Maria Green  at N M in 1775.

Looking at this now I wonder if there is a missing generation between William and Samuel, born 23 years after the marriage, possible but without being able to see the P Rs it's difficult to work out.

Buckinghamshire can be a bit frustrating without P Rs online.

Example:
If Alice was 21 when she married, barring complications she could have children until 45 or possibly 48 years old, so Mary 1732 to Samuel 1754 is likely.

Using the general naming pattern
First daughter named for maternal grand mother - Mary
First son named after paternal grand father - William
(unless they changed it and named him after the father instead)
Second daughter named after paternal grandmother - Martha
Second son named after maternal grand father- John

Thanks Trish, once I can see the whole family I can see Samuel is correct as the youngest child so his parents are correct.

I do have a feeling Alice was young on the marriage maybe 16 or 17 years old but without her baptism I can't be sure.

Amondg   I have looked at  Abthorpe PRs and the family do disappear after Alice's baptism so later on I will see if I can find any of Alice's siblings to see if there is a clue the family moved to Buckinghamshire
