Annoying and will mean I use it less, but thank god they actually allow you to do it by email, if they didn't it would be bye bye.

Yes it is a bit annoying and agree about email especially when you don't get a good reception on your mobile  :)

It's not really any different from buying something online. The Bank often sends a code to e-mail or mobile

My bank will only send to a phone number - either mobile or land line - not email.

This was of great inconvenience a while ago when we rented a holiday cottage in a rural location which had no mobile phone coverage. But the cottage did have wi-fi via a hub plugged into a landline, so I could use my laptop and initiate an order on line, but could not complete the transaction as I couldn't receive the verification code.

A question:

This has been posted under "Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing".
Does that mean it doesn't apply to "normal" Ancestry?

I don't have anything to do with DNA!
I presume, therefore, that this doesn't affect me.

Yes - banks only send codes via these methods. Other companies/sites do send to e-mail if you wish to change or have forgotten a password.

One of the reasons I don't shop online is the lack of mobile signal where I live and therefore my inability to get the verification code.  Apparently you can phone your bank to get one but it is a very tedious progress - like most thing concerning banks nowadays.  :-(

Yes it does apply to ordinary Ancestry and not just the DNA bit.  :-(
