Mathias Edge 1819 Liverpool

Can anyone help.  Mathias Edge married Jane Allen on 7 May 1860 in St Peter, Everton, Lancashire, England.  She is described as widow of full age living at 13 Howarth Street and her father is given as Thomas Mawdsley farmer.  Jane Mawdsley was born on 2 August 1823 in Halsall, Lancashire, England and is resident at North Moors, Halsall, Ormskirk, Lancashire, England according to the 1851 census and is single living with her parents.  I have failed to find a marriage of Jane to an Allen (surname) between 1851 and 1860.  Any help appreciated.

It's more complicated than you think.

Marriage 15 March 1858 Our Lady and St Nicholas, Liverpool:

Jane Thompson, widow, father Thomas Mawdsley, a farmer

and Peter Allen, a labourer of Pendre Street, father George Allen, a labourer.

The only Jane Mawdsley/ Thompson marriage I can see was at the same church in 1830. Too early, if you have the right Jane Mawdsley.

Jane Mawdsley was born on 2 August 1823 in Halsall,

But Mathias Edge's wife Jane was born 1810/11 according to the 1861 census (age 50) so the 1830 marriage to William Thompson does seem to be most likely to be the one. 

You have the wrong Jane Mawdsley, I suggest.

You are right.  I have the wrong Jane Mawdsley.  Now I am struggling to find her baptism

Matthias Edge married Ann Allen 1849 per freebmd

His father was Stanley Edge & his mother was Ann. 

1851 mistranscribed as Matthew Ege - ref is piece 2186 folio 472 page19

Both the 1849 & 1860 marriage certs show his father as Stanley & the 1860 shows both Matthias & Jane as widowed

He married an Allen on both occasions.  Jane's previous marriage could have been pre 1837
