Did Matthias also marry Hannah Mercer in 1871 - he died in 1872

Jane Edge age 62 died 1870 which supports the baptism found by Shaun.  So you are looking for a Mawdsley marriage to an Allen but pre 1837

Have you looked for Jane on the 1851?  As she married as Jane Allen in 1860 & given her age, I would expect her to be under Allen in 1851

She married William Thompson in 1830,  She married Peter Allen in 1858 as Thompson so 1851 is probably Thompson possibly with William unless he has died.

Jane Thompson nee Mawdsley married Peter Allen in 1858 - he died 1859 aged 39
