Tom Kelly
« on: Thursday 07 December 23 16:05 GMT (UK) »
I have a civilisation medal 1914-1919 for a Tom Kelly. Pte, 4223, leins. R. I'm trying to find out who he is. I know nothing about Tom. The medal was with my father's things after he died. I would think Tom was Irish because that's where the medal is. Hope someone can help.

His Medal Index Card doesn't have a date of when he entered a Theatre of War, this means that he didn't go overseas until after 31 December 1915.

He also served in the Labour Corps with service number 174792

Thanks for all the help. I did see the Medal index card before but very little information. Is there any way I can find out more information on who this Thomas Kelly is.

The only other thing that I can tell you is that he was transferred into the Labour Corps (possibly after illness or wounds and declared not fit for front line duty) sometime between June and September 1917. (His LC service number, 174792) was in the block 170141 to around 357600 issued in that time period.
