Margate cemeteries
« on: Friday 08 December 23 03:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I am trying to find the grave of Charlie Stewart who died 3rd June 2000  and possibly his wife Mary Stewart who died 27 January 2001.

I live in Ireland so cant look myself and dont know if there would be an obituary like there are here in Ireland and if so which newspaper I would find it in.

The only address i have is Margate, Kent, England

Thank you very much for your help it is much appreciated

Kieran

If anyone needs help with Irish records I am always willing to help

Hi Kieran,

You could try the Isle of Thanet Gazette. Unfortunately British Newspaper Archive and Ancestry only have up to 1999 online.
You could try Margate library local studies section to see of they have any copies and are able to do a look up.

(I used to live opposite the cemetery but am now too far away to go for a look round) :'(

Do you know that they were buried and not cremated?

You could Google Margate local authority and try their bereavement services.

Presumably the death registrations

STEWART, CHARLES  FREDERICK     born c1913
GRO Reference:  DOR  Q2/2000 in THANET WITH DOVER  (5751A)  Reg A8E  Entry Number 89

STEWART, MARY  JOSEPHINE     born c1916
GRO Reference:  DOR  Q3/2001 in THANET WITH DOVER  (5751D)  Reg D5E  Entry Number 286
This would not tie in with a January death  :-\

This is the only female Stewart death in that district that may have died in January
STEWART, MARGARET  HAIRSTENS     born c1901
GRO Reference:  DOR  Q1/2001 in THANET WITH DOVER  (5751C)  Reg C5E  Entry Number 203
