Hi Ambly and Softly Softly (& Mabel)

I'd like to thank you all for the above information and links. I am presently trying to compile a family tree for a very good friend of my wife, and this line was proving troublesome as, as I suspected, the line originated south of the border, and outwith my experience.
The info that comes bang up to date is startiung to take in recent generations for which I already had some info so I know we are on the right line for certain.
I will check out all the links provided and collate everything into the tree I already have over the next few weeks as time allows.
Once again, thank you all very much.
Best regards  ;D

Nellie Collor is proving a little more difficult to track down before she marries William Smith Preece in 1881

The friend whose family tree I am researching believes that Nellie Collor was of Spanish origin.

I think she is probably Ellen in 1881, living in Islington with her sister Mary Ann ELTON, and brother-in-law Joseph.

COLLOR, ELLEN
Mother's maiden surname: BELL
GRO Reference: 1859  J Quarter in WEST HAM UNION  Volume 04A  Page 4

The friend whose family tree I am researching believes that Nellie Collor was of Spanish origin.

It looks like her parents are from Essex, so a bit further north.  ;D

Following Nellie through 1911/21 census and London Electoral register's from 1921-1939 she lives at 86 Mabley Street, Hackney. Her dob is recorded as 25th March 1859 which ties in nicely with the Ellen birth as posted. She is not at this address in 1946. Believe she died aged 83 in 1942 Essex S W.

Thank you for this information.

Indeed thank you all for your incredible help. The info is coming in faster than I can presently process it. There's much to take it when I get the chance over the festive period.
