Diary summary week ending 17th December
« on: Monday 11 December 23 13:03 GMT (UK) »
Morning  folks
Lovely day   but think I am to late to put my sheets out, made a mistake  with my machine  timer.

Nothing happening here except I have had a call  from a friend I have known since 1966, was so nice to hear from her as we don't  get to see each other now, what prompted her to ring was I included  a letter in her Christmas card, I have never been one to Include letters in Christmas cards but this year I did, everyone was  tailored to that person, not what I call a round robin, 2 phone calls from my letters, boosted me up, .

Decs going  up gradually to get into the spirit as it were.

Hope all is well with everyone

LM

I've had a really busy week but due to old age I've only managed to do what a slow sloth could do  :D

I hadn't realised just how much tat my offspring have been leaving in plain sight, in case I needed it,  until I found I had to move stuff to dust and vacuum.

I discovered I needed more Christmas cards this morning.  I thought if I can receive messages about son no.2 needing a drink of Dandelion & Burdock, it might work if I send  a message through the ether to say I needed more Christmas cards.

When No.2 son eventually arrived here he announced he had bought me some extra Christmas cards in case I needed them.

As the roads are still flooded, according to the police announcements, son no.1
isn't risking sitting on a blocked motorway again.

Got a good bit done today, it is not a dirty house like the big one which was directly on a very busy road.Dust here us whitish grey there black!

No sign of my son, perhaps heavy traffic coming from Farnham.
Tea will be quick so no problem.

Bauble Service yesterday, well part two.
Not as full as usual but understandable as it was last week really.

Decided with another lady we would go out after Christmas together for Sunday lunch , after Church.

It is lovely being back in the swing again.
Our Rector ,young and witty, expects the congregation to join in and answer questions during the sermon ,most are reluctant but I am impetuous and  it is
said before I think ,good job I know the Bible fairly well and did R,E. as an O level and in the Sixth Form.
He has started looking in my direction after a question———— :-\
Hasn’t Church changed ,ladies not having to wear hats any more, lady Vicars  and Vergers —-and  joining in the sermon.

Well, I need a cuppa ,so Cheerio.
Viktoria.

I'm using a very handy birthday gift that is enabling me to see what I'm writing on the cards and envelopes this year.  It's an LED head magnifier - and no it hasn't enlarged my head - it enlarges whatever I want to see in detail.

As I usually take a long time to write my seasonal cards, I promised myself that I would just sign my name on all the Christmas cards that I send out this year, but I couldn't resist adding "And a Happy, Healthy & Prosperous New Year".  Then it wasn't long before I added a few more words and now I've printed off a couple of pages of genealogy bumph to put inside a cousin and a brother's cards.  I'm copying addresses from my address book and I'm only on the surnames that start with a "K".   I need saving from myself !!

I have found this year,  sadly I am sending less cards,  quite noticeable this year for some reason,  most cards posted, just neighbours now.

A few years ago I was given the job of writing a notice suggesting donations were given to the church instead of each member of  the congregation giving out cards, I was all for it but not many took notice, I certainly am not mean but I would rather go down tbe donation route at church.

Viktoria, I dislike being asked questions in church by the priest in charge,  I cringe at the thought

Our Church has a post box and a donation box, the cards are then sorted and laid out alphabetically for the congregation to collect as they leave after the service. Someone then delivers to the housebound, it's  a system that works very well.

That is a good idea Jebber, there was talk of post box but that didn't materialise,  quite a few don't get delivered or posted, i do my best with locals, I would sooner leave a donation but I understand some souls don't have many cards and look forward to them.

Looks like a lousy day after such a nice bright day yesterday

Well he makes a statement and then asks a question and looks around, if I know the answer I will say it.
Very very few join in so it is often just me who answers ,so now he looks directly at me !
Sunday he spoke about Jesus’ sorrow at the death of Lazarus—-
,” What did he do?”
Well the next part of the reading says that Jesus wept , so that is what I
said .Anyone could have answered it but it is not usual to include the congregation in the sermon , and I suppose many would be shy .

Well an earlier night tonight ,I am tired.
Daughter as usual phoned ,had her Vitamin B12 injection for Pernicious Anaemia  on Friday and now has swollen glands in her neck and under her arms !
Is limited to what antibiotic she can have ,allergic to penicillin .
Makes you wonder if everything was sterile but with disposable syringes etc it is almost impossible for contamination.

Well off to bed ,so good night everyone .
Viktoria.

You will gather that I did not actually post this ,well the first part last night!
So a bit late.V.
P.S.We do that too, cards are laid out alphabetically and we pick them up .
I will be away the Sunday before Christmas so probably won’t get mine
I will put one card next week wishing all a Happy Christmas  and saying a donation has been made instead of cards .
It might catch on ,on the other hand that seems a bit boastful,to say I have
donated, better not.
Viktoria.
