An article ,in a newspaper I think ,stated that The P.O. Is concentrating on thr more lucrative parcels so letters and cards are on the “ back burner”—- including medical letters re appointments ,some of which will be urgent!
I have not got my letter re “ urgent “appointment with the Specialist  re the changes in my heart.I keep phoning but nothing ,they are very busy but the appointment was on Nov 24th.
They have results but not sent to my GP yet ,nor  me.
Only a couple of cards to hand deliver now,one ,lovely people  who have  moved and I don’t remember the new address. They always send one to me,
one son( the children were at the school where I worked) had a breakdown at Uni and it is so sad. He’ll sit with me in church but often just has to leave all of a sudden.We understand  and are used to it.
He told me but I had nothing to write the parent’s new address with and have forgotten it.

Eye appointment tomorrow,and I forgot my night drops last night !
Must read the blurb and see if I can fit an extra in today.It might not be advisable ,I will have to fess up to the Specialist tomorrow.

Well was going to Bury today, as it is market day but it can wait until Friday market day,I need eye drops to soothe them , not on prescription now and our now only chemist in Rammy does not stock them ,but I still need them.
I don’t get the drops from the market- Boots- but other things I can get like Lancashire Creamy cheese  from a really good dairy stall.
It will cost about £9 for a good chunk ,my daughter loves it and it is really tasty, two kinds creamy and tasty, lovely with Christmas cake and also apple pie.
Well ironing to tackle so TV on and off I go. —— “ Dashing away with the smoothing iron she my stole my heart away! “
Except that would be a Tuesday according to the song we sang at school ——
‘‘Twas on a Monday morning,
That I beheld my darling ,
She looked so neat and charmingIn every high degree.
She looked so neat and charming dashing away with the ——
First the wash then dry and then ironing

Today - smoothing iron .

Cheerio.

 I like it Viktoria,  the youngsters are missing  out on some of these old ditties sang to them as children,  my granny used to sing about " old mother slipper slopper who jumped out of bed" can't remember the rest, someone might.

Had a bit of an accident yesterday , my OH  accidentally knocked a cup of tea on my lounge carpet,  athough we dealt with it I can still  see the mark, surprising how far Iiquid travels, fortunately we don't have visitors this year  at Christmas.

Very wet again this morning, the Christmas lights lift the spirit, not that we have many, although they are a pest to put up I miss them after 12th  night.

Sadly, Christmas 2023 will be very subdued in this house. My dear wife, Jane, sadly died peacefully in her sleep on 11th December. This followed 5 years of suffering Alzheimer's and subsequently a very sudden onset of Bowel Cancer. After a period of 5 weeks in hospital she was discharged three weeks ago to return home for her final days with an appropriate care package.
I have to say that the care she received , both in hospital and at home from her carers was first class, which made her final days with us so much more comfortable and bearable.
RIP my darling in the arms of the Lord- You good and faithful servant.

Well
After the rain the sun
Glad that I live am I that the sky is blue,
Anyone remember that or have I got it wrong?
Sun out in full force but not much of a blue sky after rain all night

LM

I remember it from schooldays.

1 Glad that I live am I;
That the sky is blue;
Glad for the country lanes
And the fall of dew.
2. After the sun the rain,
After the rain the sun;
This is the way of life,
Till the work be done.
All that we need to do,
Be we low or high,
Is to see that we grow,
Nearer the sky.

Oh Jeff, I am so sorry, I have just come off the phone to my friend in Wales, we were young Mums together . Our friendship is of 66years,
.
Her first son died very suddenly a couple of weeks ago .
She is 90 in March and she does not feel up to attending the funeral which is in Kendal tomorrow.
No goodbyes and not seen him for a couple of years.

I hope it is of some comfort that your wife died peacefully.
Thank you for telling us on RootsChat ,we are a comfort to one another aren’t we.
When you feel able let us know the order of Service ,date ,time etc, we can perhaps join you in spirit at least, and hope you sense the support of many very kind people .
With kindest regards and sincere sympathy.
Viktoria.
