George Williams
« on: Monday 11 December 23 15:40 GMT (UK) »
Can some one help? i have a small enigma,  i believe my distant cousins in Australia have researched and entered the wrong George Williams  on their tree. H e was my great uncle. They have him dying in 1876 but i am fairly confident that the correct George Williams died in 1896 , Blaenafon both men died tragically George 1896 died from severe injuries sustain whilst working at Big Pit, the Coronors report actually mentions his father George at being present at the time of the accident.
I have both death certs and the copy for George Williams  who died 10th September 1876  states, occupation was Farm Servant cause of death on coronors report .. found dead killed by a kick of a horse. This happened in the Parish of Llanworth (very dicicult to read) Kilgeddin  (which I think is a few miles from USK. i have found George Williams who died 1896 on the 1871 census and the 1881 census and 1891 census. 1871 census shows living with parents George and Mary Ann William, s  (my great great grandparents)Abergavenny Road.  Occupation haulier.1881 Census Living at Long Rank,  Blaenafon. married to Sarah Ann (Wilkins) Williams, son Issac, George's  occupation Miner,  haulier. The 1891 census shows him to be living at Black House, Blaenafon.
For years the family appear to be living Abergavenny Road, and Upper Brickyard are of Blaenafon. i can't find any reference to the family living in the Usk area.
i am trying to prove that relatives in Australia have researched the wrong man.

Revisiting my post I haven't expressed myself well. I am seeking confirmation that the burial I have posted is the George in question - in the absence of a year of birth in opening post.

The 1896 Pontypool Press newspaper article refers to " ... widow and six children so suddenly bereaved" which ties in with the 1891 Census family at Black House..
