William Crean Buried 31/1/1964, no Death Registration?

There is a burial record for William Crean in Ford Cemetery, Liverpool, on 31/1/1964.
This is presumably William Crean, born 1877 in Oulart, Co. Wexford, and living in Liverpool with his family on the 1911 census. This seams clear as he was buried in the same grave as William's son Aidan Peter Crean, killed in October 1940 in a Luftwaffe bombing raid on Liverpool  However, I can't find any death or probate record to match the above burial record for William

Looking at the 1937 records, seems is one for the William being buried, and another for William, his father as owner. [Update - see further below].

The records for William Crean on 31/1/1964 looks like that for the owner of the plot, not the one being buried! So maybe a wild goose chase - William senior, or his son William (second version), burying someone around that time.

Looking further, it is clear that Ancestry mislabels many of the burial records - one set of registers is the owner of the plot paying for the burial, but it is indexed on Ancestry as that person being buried!

Now William Crean's first Wife, Ellen Julia was buried in that same grave on 24th May 1937.
I can't help but wonder if the William Crean entry for 19th May is simply the husband making the initial purchase of the plot, and not the burial of a son at all. Reason being that there seems to be no death registered for a William Crean (and variants) in 1937, while Ellen Julia's death is registered.

Mystery Solved.

I looked through the Ford registers of burials - the actual burials - by hand, around the end of January 1964. The person buried in grave AB498 was Alfred Albert Hankin, on January 24th. He was William Crean's son-in-law, or brother-in-law, depending upon which William Crean was intended.

I am sure this wasted peoples' time, in addition to my own. All because Ancestry mischaracterize/mislabel an entire register series - turning the person who managed or organized the burial into the person being buried!

Well, in a sense. 

But there is still the oddity that I can't find a death for this fellow anywhere...
That is William Crean, born 10 March 1877, living in Springfield Av. Liverpool in 1939 and 1940.
Son born 1941.

Well, I found the death and burial of William Crean. He returned to Ireland and died in Wexford on 28/9/1963. He was very difficult to find as his name was misindexed as "Glean,"  rather than Crean.
