So... new information found by very helpful Rootschatters,
2 articles in Clonmel Herald with the name of Serjeant Edward Morton of the constabulary in New-Inn, Tipperary from December 1834 chasing people firing shots across the county and earlier in the year in May searching for two men in the abduction of a woman, which could be related to my Johnston Morton, who referred to a sergeant in the Irish Constabulary as his father in his last marriage certificate of 1883, however referred to Father as Woodranger or Gate keeper in earlier certificates for him and his sister in 1848. Johnston referred to in 4 marriages as witness at Clonagam church and Edward Morton referred to as a tenant, the seat of the Marquis of Waterford in Griffiths valuation at Curraghmore area of Waterford, so location all makes sense. My difficulty is linking the Edward to son Johnston and Fanny. Johnston also seems to have a brother Samuel Thomas Morton born to Edward and Martha in 1843, suggested to be a game keeper at Curraghmore, No records are available to be to suggest the life span of Samuel Thomas Morton, or of the origins of Martha his mother. It is suggested Johnston and his sister were born between 1823 & 1825, however Samuel was baptised in 1843, quite an age gap of 20 years, not doubting the fecundity of Martha however she must have been some fertile woman, possibly having first given birth at 20ish then again at 40ish, (not unusual today), the search goes on and I am very grateful of any help or leads offered.
