A Further Enquiry ::)

Is someone able to quote the actual date, probably late September 1838, that the following report
appeared in the Stirling Observer:

                          JOHN BUCHANAN, Wooer’s Street, Falkirk, was outlawed
                     for not appearing on a charge of robbery.
                          ADAM LIDDELL pled guilty to a charge of robbery, in so
                     far as, on the night of the 10th July last, he, along with Buchanan
                     above-mentioned, assaulted Thos. Taylor, Labourer, Port Dundas,
                     Glasgow, and with having stolen from him 15s. in silver and
                     copper.   On account of his youth, he not being fifteen years of age,
                     he was sentenced to five years transportation.

Thank you

The coverage range for the Stirling Observer on www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk is 1839 - 1999.

Newspaper.com have 1849 - 1999.

Maybe other sources would have coverage for the period you are looking at (1838)?

There are earlier issues, such as those referenced here www.rootschat.com/links/01svu/ - link shrunk from the National Library of Scotland. I think these are likely to be only available to view on request and in person?

Thank You Monica,

Sadly, the information is not available on the British Newspaper Archive nor the Newspapers & Publications link on FindMyPast.

I shall just assume the report was published in late September 1838.
