Utley/Uttleys of Brighouse/Langfield/Stansfield

Hi all,
I am trying to trace my line of Uttleys into the 1700s in the Upper Calder Valley area. My ancestor William Uttley (born 1767 and christened on April 17 in the vicarage of Halifax) is listed as a schoolmaster near Stansfield, and I am trying to locate any records about where he worked. His father Jonathan Uttley (born around 1729 in Heptonstall) is also reported to be a schoolmaster, but I cannot find any records showing where he worked.

In addition, Jonathan was a member of Free Mason Lodge 308. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for accessing any archives of Masonic Lodges in Western Yorkshire.

He kept a boarding school in Brighouse.

In 1817, he started a law-suit which ruined his finances

In 1818, he started a printing business at Millwood, but this failed.

He became an itinerant schoolmaster
