Genomelink - what do you think?
« on: Sunday 24 December 23 13:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

I've seen several adverts for the above recently.  All claiming to give more info than other sites.

I was wondering if anyone has used it, is it worth the effort, does it supply anything extra ?  Do they ask for bank details first?

I'd appreciate any comments / help

Many thanks

I joined Genomelink out of curiosity. It's a freemium site. Free to join and upload DNA data. A number of free reports, ancestry breakdown and genetic traits etc. They use these to hopefully get you to upgrade, but not too forcefully. There are some interesting parts to it, some of the traits are weirdly correct.
It's a bit of fun at the moment, but some does ring true.

some of the traits are weirdly correct.

... and some are as wrong as they could be.
I see it as a waste of time, even if it doesn't cost anything.

I would not upload very personal information to the site.

It is simply not a piece of fun.

Its aim is to extract cash by providing very dubious and questionable information to entice a subscription

If a huge company like 23&me can get hacked then some very small startup (2017) have no chance.
