Label on an an English legal document 1472 - 1485

This is the label on the jacket of the document. I can handle the text of the document, but could use some help with this.

Can you please tell me (I’ve been googling but am still confused) in this context  Is the octave of St Martin the Eighth day after the feast of St M.? Or is it the whole 8 day period following the said feast.

In a legal context, octave is the whole 8-day period. You will also find quindene, for a 15-day period.

Thanks so much Bookbox.   Just when I think I have the calendar sorted out, something else comes along!  I don’t know how they managed to keep track!
