:)  Yes,  - was confused there for a second.  Yes, the name 'Rowland'  was transcribed wrong. I remember from previous data I had.  Very smart to pick that up so quickly.    Tks again; but I hadn't picked up Emily at this stage.  So am thrilled.   Many tks.

1881 - per Ancestry transcription. Confirms James is theirs

33 Foxes Buildings, (Kent Road area) Southwark
Piece 521, folio 132, p37

Charles Cury    35    general labourer b Maidstone
Emily Cury       32   b Norwich
William Cury    11  b Plumstead
James Cury      8   b Bermondsey

1891 Charles is living in a lodging house in Lombard St, Southwark. Born Maidstone, docks labourer. Says he's single, but so are all the lodgers so I suspect the landlord said that to make it easier!

James Jury joined up - he's on 1891 as a soldier.  Chelsea pensioner records show him as discharged in1905 - on Fold3 so I can;t see the image. Can't see him elsewhere

Having no luck with William

I had assumed Henry must have died, but there's a Henry Dury on 1881 b London serving as a private in the 98th Regiment. Then Chelsea records have a Henry Jury b Woolwich 1868 enlisting in the  West Riding Regiment in 1890

:) - Very good.  Am trying to keep up!!  ....
His g/uncle James Newton (brother to Sarah and Elisabeth) was in the 96th. Enlisted in 1839.  Firstly went to Van Diemen's land (Tasmania) as a convict guard and thence onto New Zealand and fought in the Hone Heke War in Northland 1845.  The name James seems to have carried thru the generations.  James had a son 'Clement' born in 1853 here in New Zealand.  Fabulous.  I could write a book about James.  A sad ending to his extraordinary eventual life (d. 1875).  Just gathering some DNA matches from the family which will confirm my relationship to James.
Thanks so much for SO much help.
So far I have two matches to Elisabeth (b.1824) and one to Clement (b.1836).  Such a large family.  11 children in all, (several died young).  Working on dna matches...would be good to have some with the Pearse lot and also some from the Jury side.

I have a dna match to the Pearson's.  Very excited.  In all I now have 9 dna matches to my soldier ancestor (her brother - arriving here in NZ in 1844).  Very excited.  This makes it all so worthwhile.  Tks to everyone for their input re Sarah etc.   :)

I am looking for the court case for Emily (after the assault).  Can't find it.  Would be interesting to read a bit more about this - Have tried looking in Old Bailey records but can't find it there.  Pls direct me to any information on the assault. Tks.
