What you need is the OS National Grid Series map at 1:2500, which will have the house numbers.  The series was first published from c1950 to c1970.  The NLS is gradually adding these to its website, but so far only Scotland, London and parts of SE England.  You should be able to view it at Bournmouth Library.   It depends whether the buildings were still standing when the map was surveyed, but if not you should be able to locate them between remaining numbers, and compare with the County Series 1:2500, 1935 edition, previously mentioned.

Thank you Jebber for having a look through your books for me - that's very helpful info.

And thank you MollyC, that's very interesting - I don't live in UK so won't be able to visit Bournemouth Library, but will keep checking the NLS site to see if they have added the map I want!

Try making an enquiry to Bournmouth Library.  They may be able to send a copy or work out the answers, possibly a small fee.  I had a very helpful free response from County Wicklow when I asked about a house in Arklow where my (English) relative had lodged 1914-16.  I only had a house name, no number.

I've worked my through endless old photos (always a delight) of Victorian/Edwardian Boscombe and its fine buildings, admiring in particular the Arcade -

and, suddenly, up on screen pops "Is Boscombe really that bad!!!", stating " ... sounds like a crack den by the sea". But the locals came to its defence.
