Hello I’m trying to locate a birth certificate for Charles Williams (from GRO) he was baptised 03 Aug 1838 Guilsfield,Montgomery,Wales he was the son of William and Catherine Williams

I know he has the following siblings as follows

Thomas williams 1823 Guildsfield
William 1825 Guildsfield
David 1828 Guildsfield
Ann 1830 Welshpool
Francis 1836 Guildsfield
John 1840 guildsfield
Edmund 1844 baptism Welshpool I believe Edmund was born and his mother Catherine died in 1844

I’m still not sure what happened to William williams after 1844.

What was Catherine's maiden name & when did they marry?  Could she be a second wife?

There is an illegitimate birth in Montgomery Dec qtr 1837 - have you already discounted it?

Edmund 1844 baptism Welshpool I believe Edmund was born and his mother Catherine died in 1844

Edmund appears to have died in 1848

The only Catherine Williams death in 1844 in Montgomeryshire was aged 74

Marriage: St Llwchaiarn Parish Register Llanllwchaearn, Montgomeryshire
08 Aug 1821
William Williams . Catharine Newell
Don’t assume they married before children, many of my family didn’t.

Added:
If you buy the certificate, it would confirm the mother’s name. From that early it would be possible to buy the £2.50 image.

To be honest I’m not sure if newell is the right surname without getting the certificate for Charles williams 1838 being my direct relative.

So not sure what to do I see John and Edmund was around to get a birth certificate from 1840 & 1844

Birth registrations only started mid-way through 1837, so he would be one of the first.
Only by the 1870s parents had to register. In the early years many did not. When asked mother's maiden name, he might be illegitimate, or she did not understand the term maiden name, but buying the £2.50 image would confirm or rule out that birth.
