Happy 20th birthday Roostchat.

I joined RC in September 2004 and my first post was to ask about my Walder ancestors on the 1841 to 1861 censuses of Slaugham. So I am almost a Ken Barlow of RC, almost an original member.  ;D

I wish to add my congratulations to Rootschat and thanks to Tristan and Sarah and all the moderators for executing not an easy task. I've corresponded with and even met people face to face from this group who've offered advice, cups of coffee and even taken me around churchyards showing where my ancestors lived and worked.

In the early days of my research there were some extremely helpful folk on here who helped me considerably. I don't know what I'd have done without you. Never mind the lack of a Pantomime surely we should have our own New Year's Honours List?

I think that what I like most about RootsChat is that you can ASK for help, and also you can volunteer HELP to others in their searches.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.
He/she who never made a mistake, never made anything.

Congratulations Rootschat!

I joined in 2005, and have had marvellous help on here 😀

I never thought that I would still be stuck with my ever elusive Paternal Grandfather 😔, - but I live in hope that one day I’ll be able to pin him down! 😂🤣😂
