I stayed up till midnight, went to the front door to greet my neighbour, was really surprised  how quiet it was, next door the other way all the lights were on,  all  cars outside but not a peep from them , they are usually the family who come out all guns blazing with pots, pans and wooden spoons, only one other family out further down, plenty of fireworks  but not for long, very quiet indeed.

Yes Mowsehowse  let's hope everyone has a healthy and happy new year.

There was about 10 minutes of fireworks around Torbay, but I didn't hear any carousing after that, only an owl hooting quite a lot.  :)

My brother  in Teignmouth seemed to be having a happy party in the lounge in their complex, he organises most social things that go on but as like most of the places some choose not to socialise,  not for everyone. LM

I think people really do need people LM, so it is a good thing your brother makes opportunities for the residents to socialise.

My brother is good at organising  things, he is a bit like the soul of the party.

Just read this for a  greeting, at anytime I suppose

" may your troubles be less and your blessings be more"

I was tired, I went to bed and listened on the radio, I didn’t think I would stay awake, but just managed it.

For the first time there was no sound of any fireworks around here, usually they go on for quite a while. I think the weather put a lot of people off.

When we lived abroad it was always a double event, we celebrated both local and UK time. :) :) :)

Happy New Year to all. LM I like your quote of ‘May your troubles be less and your blessings be more.

I ended up staying up as I’d started to rewatch season 12 of Call the Midwife ready for the new season starting next week. The fireworks from London on tv were huge and they had a couple of laser bits included. Must have cost a lot of money.
Near us we could hear some fireworks for about ten minutes but no idea where they were from.
