Roobarb - that is VERY cruel - leaving us to try and decide where you found warmth and sunshine!  Are you going to let us into the secret?  :-\

BB, It was southern Turkey. It wasn't sunshine all the way, we had a couple of very wet days (just to remind us of home!) but the other days made up for it. Lovely to feel the warm sun on your skin in January.  :)

I think you're right Candleflame, it didn't seem to get dark quite so early tonight.

MH, that's music to my ears!

Happy New Year..
Wonderfull Roobarb! I can’t think of a better way to spend it… sunshine certainly appeals at this time of the year when all we seem to be getting dull miserable days… although I did spot a bit of blue sky for a millisecond earlier on 😂😂.

All decorations taken down and now back up in the loft for another year… I have to say climbing the ladder and pulling myself up doesn’t get any easier..

Back to Pilates on Monday and I can’t wait… I have missed it, I did think I’d do some at home but never seem to find the right time..

I’m certainly looking forward to our trip to Turkey in April and a ballon trip which has been on my wish list for a long time when we go up to Cappadocia… OH will be on terra firma as it would be his worst nightmare!

Many thanks, never been to Turkey!

Suitcase emptied and put away!
No decorations - I would probably fall off the step ladder. :o

Been up in hot air balloons several times, mostly years back, in Britain, always wanted to, and when I finally got up, really loved the experience, each time, Caw1. One trip was over snow-covered north Yorkshire. Really good. Enjoy it.

Sounds wonderful TY… I’m sure snow covered hill tops looked really magical…can't wait to see the landscape especially as I think it’s pretty spectacular… nearly went up when we stayed with friends in Kenya years ago.

Turkey is a beautiful country, some stunning scenery. (Nearly as beautiful as Yorkshire :) )
I'm sure you'll enjoy it Caroline but I must say I'd be on terra firma with your OH!

Not a country we’ve ever visited but looking fed to it…

thinking about some winter sun at the moment either end Jan or mid Feb… if anyones got some suggestions if they’ve been anywhere nice I’d love to hear ideas… not more than 4 hr flight though…

I think you'll struggle with that Caroline. I'd say your best bet is the Canary Islands but they're about a four and a half hour flight. The earliest in the year that I've been there is March, lovely warm weather then, I think it's cooler in January and February. I've been to Lanzarote a few times, it does get some windy weather, Gran Canaria might be best for more settled weather.

Other than that, Cyprus is apparently quite mild but a bit cooler I think. I've never been there in the winter months. That's also about a four and a half hour flight.
If you could manage about six hours flying time then Cape Verde is a possibility.
