Have you searched this site before?
https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/

Using search terms of 1835-1867, Maryland and John T Moore, the first newspaper image I reviewed had a list of names that included a John T Moore and listed above his name was a James R. Wheatley. It was in a Cecil County newspaper.

Perhaps there might be something helpful in other newspapers?

John Wheatley arrived in the Province in 1641.

Lisa.  I loved reading this story and wondered if it might have a link ?
The girl was Mary Moore who seems to be married to a Frank Chester with an infant daughter Lizzie. Sister Lizzie also appears to be mentioned. The other chap writing the story is Harry Church who knew Mary all her life.  There mothers were old playmates and first cousins ?
(The story is reprinted a few times over the years)

Hi Sandra. I’ll take a look at the link in a moment.

Great finds re John T Moore.

I wonder if a James W J Moore could be related to John.  He married a Mary Jane Herbert in 1843, Saint Mary’s, Maryland.

There was a daughter on the 1850 Celestia A Moore but that hasn't thrown any clues up.

Thank you. It is always a relief when unusual names come up in the lines. What I would like to find is an obituary for John T Moore to see if it sheds any light on his parents etc. I am in NZ so not very up with things when it comes to US genealogy.

There was no death notice that I could see, just the notice to creditors 4 th August 1864.

The US Civil war 12 April 1861 – 9 April 1865 - many records were destroyed which won't help.
