road block with family research
« on: Tuesday 02 January 24 17:57 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information on my 4th great-grandfather, John Gegan/Geoghegan, who came from Corofin, County Clare. He died on October 29th 1899. The thing that interests me is that his occupation was listed as "Pensioner of 21st Foot." I have hit a roadblock trying to find records that are linked to him. He had a daughter, Mary, who married my 3rd great-grandfather, John Logue, who I believe was a drill instructor of some sort for the British Army. I would love to find out what other family he had, where he is buried, etc.

Welcome to rootschat, Jamie.

Do you know where and when Mary was born?

I believe she was born around 1849 in County Galway; I'm unsure if the family then relocated to Corofin in later years. She is listed as being aged 62 on the 1901 and 1911 censuses.

Be wary of nephew, it is often used instead of grandson or other male relation.
