Death Date for John Greenfield b.1838
« on: Tuesday 02 January 24 23:02 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,
I'm looking to ascertain a date for the death of my great-greatgrandfather. He was John Greenfield born in 1838 in Dudley. He can be found on all the relevant censuses, marrying Eliza Hooper in 1859 and having 6 children, of which 3 survived past infancy; Martha Maria (1864-1908), Norah (1868-1942) and Eliza Ann (1872-1959). After the death of his wife in 1872, he seems to have remarried to a 'Charlotte' who is present in 1881. He is known to be dead in 1892, where on his daughter Eliza Ann's marriage certificate he is stated to be deceased. I'd really like to know a year for his death, as well as what happened to his second wife.
Thanks  :)
FG

His medical record courtesy of Mezentia who posted about another patient at Powick, so drawing attention to this source.

Wow, this is quite extraordinary, though tragic at the same time. It's definitely him, as the address at the top of the asylum record is the same as his residence in 1881. Thanks so much for finding this record. On a side note, while he was at Powick asylum, a young Elgar was the conductor of the Asylum band! During my great-great grandfather's stay, he composed the Powick Asylum Dances and conducted the band which performed them to the patients!

Thanks again,
