Hutton's from Ballyhargan
« on: Wednesday 03 January 24 22:41 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace the line of Archibald Hutton, who was from Ballyhargan, just outside of Dungiven, as I believe he was my 4th great-grandfather. I descend from his daughter Margaret, who I believe ended up in the Coleraine district.

I know Archibald married Lavinia McClelland in 1862 and, at that time, lived in Ballyhargan. His father was William, but I can't find any records for him. I would love to find out what other children Archibald and William had, and I would be very grateful if anyone had any helpful information.

3 Hutton households in Ballyhargan in the 1901 census:

There must have been at least 2 Hutton-McClelland marriages around the same time. I can see the following 18 children to parents of those surnames. You’ll need to look them all up on irishgenealogy to see who the individual parents were. All events registered in Limavady registration district.

Mary 22.2.1865
Lavinia 21.5.1866
Matilda 22.2.1867
Lavinia 27.11.1868
Mary 11.12.1868
Edward 10.6.1870
Margaret 17.8.1871
Margaret 18.1.1873
Rebecca 20.3.1874
Eliza 26.8.1874
Lida 1.5.1876
Lida 13.11.1876
Lucinda 12.12.1878
Matilda 13.5.1879
Fanney 30.7.1880
Rebecca 30.7.1880
Archibald 4.9.1882
Annie 28.8.1886.

OP , you presumably have these records if you have traced her to Coleraine, but linking it for others reading-

Margaret Ellen Hutton
Married Joseph Kalley on 3 December 1896 at Terrace Row Presbyterian Church, Coleraine.

Her mother Lavinia Hutton (a widow) died on 17 December 1913 at Millbank Cottages, Coleraine. She was 69 and the informant her daughter Maggie Kelly.
