Edward Johnston married to Elizabeth Johnston
« on: Friday 05 January 24 03:26 GMT (UK) »
I found a couple living in Paisley, Scotland in 1851. They were Edward Johnston married to Elizabeth Johnston nee Johnston, as later records would show. Edward is a laborer, 31 and Elizabeth is 40. They have children Jane 14, John and Thomas all born Ireland, as they also were.

In 1861, Edward is 42 and an ag. lab. They have another daughter Elizabeth age 8, born in Paisley and their son John is married to Sarah Elliott, his first wife.

Daughter Jane married in 1858 to William Allison Russell from Co. Tyrone. Edward is thread packer.

Elizabeth dies in 1870 and her parents are Arthur Johnston and Jane Johnston.

Edward remarries and is found in 1881 with wife Margaret, and daughter Isabella, living in Govan, Lanarkshire. He has gotten younger, age 52, but it is him as his death record will prove. He is a gardener.

In 1891, he is still in Govan with Margaret and Isabella.
In 1894, Edward dies. He is back to his truer age of 74. https://www.rootschat.com/links/01swt/
His wives are listed as Elizabeth Johnston and Margaret Close or Linn. Actually her maiden name was Close as her death certificate will show. His parents are Edward Johnston and Martha Sproull, probably Sproule.
Son Thomas marries Jane Cockburn in 1864. Thomas and Jane had a son Edward Cockburn Johnston who died in South Carolina in 1850. Daughter Elizabeth married William Irvine in 1881.
I don't know where Edward and Elizabeth came from in Ireland but I once saw a note that daughter Jane was baptised in Co. Tyrone but I can't refind that. Nor can I find any other reference to Co.Tyrone.
I know that I am asking a lot but can anyone locate where Edward and Elizabeth came from in Ireland.
Thank you
Peggy
