Richard Williamson Abt 1841 Manchester
« on: Saturday 06 January 24 11:46 GMT (UK) »
Looking for Richard Williamson prior to Dec 1861.

I have a marriage for Richard on the 22 Dec 1861 to a Maria Hudson.

The marriage certificate gives his age as 20,(occupation Carter) and his fathers name as John Williamson (occupation Carter) and his residence at time of marriage Dunbar Street.

The marriage was at St. John's Church, Manchester. The only Dunbar St. I can find is Oldham.

Subsequent census gives his place of birth as Salford (1871) and Manchester (1881 & 1891).

Have searched for census earlier than 1871 without success, would welcome any help from Rootschat.

Try 1851 reference piece 2223.  A lot of the Manchester 1851 was water damaged during storage but there is a 9yr old Richard Williamson - father John - born Salford & living in Salford.  The original image is damaged so I can’t make out John’s occupation

Thank you Carole, I have seen that census. I have tried following each of the names shown but with no success. I will take another look at it.

But I am hoping to find a 1861 census with Dunbar Street on it??

I think the occupation is Carter out of employ.

Mother's maiden surname was SEDDON.

Image of the marriage of Richard Williamson to Maria Hudson 22 December 1861 (ancestry)

His occupation is Carder, his father John also a Carder

Her father Joseph occupation is Carter

Witnesses are Thomas Williamson and Sarah Ann Williamson.

So brother and sister or brother and his wife are witnesses
