@Gadget
Then you must have better eyes than mine!

But as there is the option to turn the pop up on/off I guess it's not really a problem.
I've just tried using  Chrome to see if it helps , but no, but found that a right-click with the mouse copies/pastes whole census pages (which Firefox doesn't) which is useful to know I suppose.
And I can't find a support page at FindMyPast where I could ask them
Not a successful Sunday it would appear...

The Snip tool as suggested would be the better way.

I use the key combination….Windows key + Shift + S

The screen dims and a + appears, simply drag it over the area that you want copied and it will copy that area to your Screenshots folder which you will find in the My Pictures folder.

I did turn it on to see if I could help with your problem. but, apart from screen shots and taking a photo with a phone, none of which would convert to text easily (apart from using OCR),  I could not see a way.

(My eyesight is not very good - I've changed from being short sighted to long sighted and now wear specs to read most small text on my laptop. The pop ups were rather large on my screen though)

Hi
The snipping tool does not work as the pop up then disappears.
The keyboard shortcut does not work for the same reason.
Ditto screenshot.
(I'm using Firefox)
And I thought it would be so easy!

The print screen key on the right of the function keys does work ( rather than the other ways of doing screen copies).

I did it with one of my family entries and then loaded into PS.

It's still an image file not a text file  though.

Just found  this which explains why print Screen key works when other methods don't

Quote
Using Print Screen is especially useful for taking screenshots of apps that change appearance when you press a keyboard combination. Often a menu will collapse as soon as you tap a shift key.

You can switch off those pop ups using a toggle switch at the top.
Martin

Martin,
So grateful for this - have been able to remove pop up from 1939 register screen images.

I see them as a bit of a nuisance, HT!

I've  just the usedPrt Sc key and copied the whole screen into PhotoShop. I've blurred the text pop up (privacy) and cropped the image.

The text box is large enough to transcribe.

Hover over the link, right click and open in new tab, or open in new window.
I am not a subscriber, but it seemed to work on what I could experiment with.
