Blank bar, no mini-icons, along bottom of screen

Blank bar at bottom of screen, suddenly - perhaps it's a co-incidence, but same day as L-O-N-G time trying to get Virgin to help me access own e-mail service (Well, it worked then for a bit after 2 long phone calls to a real person - yes!) - but I still couldn't get to sign in myself!!
Then I noticed no little icons for files, pictures, Word or even jigsaws, at all along bottom.
Has anyone any idea why, or what I can do about it? I always blame microsoft, but....

F11 is Full-Screen Mode.

I've hit it inadvertently in the past!

Oh, I'd simply blamed it all on Microsoft, "they" have been causing me all sorts of headaches recently. Quite fed up between them and "Virgin".

And now they've gone again - and F11 didn't work..... Blank black bar, no icons there.

Try  a right click on the task bar and select Taskbar Settings.
