James Gregson, Dawson Street, Manchester
« on: Thursday 11 January 24 16:00 GMT (UK) »
Recently I found a will and probate for a James Gregson of Dawson Street, Manchester England.  It was written 22 Nov 1831.  He died 25 Dec 1831 (a month after he wrote his will (presumably he knew he was dying).  He gave £50 to his nephew James Gregson and the rest of estate was divided equally between his mother Martha, and his siblings Elizabeth Gregson, Thomas Gregson and William Gregson.
James's signature on the will is very similar to one on the marriage documentation of my GGG grandfather John Gregson and Betty Calvert.  The documentation noted that James Gregson lived in Manchester - therefore a link I would like to follow up.
Is there anyone out there who has  James and his family in their family tree??

Here is your earlier thread.

In there, I wrote:
“ There is a burial for James Gregson, 21 yrs of Water Street.

There is a baptism for a James Gregson, 24th April 1810 - parents John and Martha. John’s occupation - Joiner.”

You doubted this because of the age, the ‘well written will’ and the amount of money.

Is there any other information in the will/probate which could help identify your family?

Looking at a modern map, there is a  Dawson Street close to Water Street near to the Castlefield area.

I do not know how old he was when he died.  The date of john Gregson and Betty Calvert 's marriage is September 1822.

Have you looked for later wills for any of the associated names?
