Locating a grave in Old Dalbeth Cemetery
« on: Friday 12 January 24 19:41 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I am hoping someone can help me. Is there a way of finding a location of a grave in Old Dalbeth Cemetery? I located 4 ancestors buried there, the earliest, Sarah Garrity in November 1851. The index in Scotlands People mentions lair for each entry but when I got the images it does not provide a number.
Interestingly one of the entries has the name recorded but is then crossed out with no further information recorded. Any ideas why?
The family owned a business in Glasgow and seemed to have done well for themselves so I dont think they would be in a paupers grave.
Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks for reading.

Hi,

1850 Sarah Garrity
1851 burial date 4th November age 1 year Old Dalbeth Cemetery. Cause of death whooping cough.
Section 01 subsection 00 common ground burial.

I also have family members(babies) buried in this section.
It is mostly graves of priests & nuns in this small old section of the cemetery.

Common ground burial would be a lair with up to 6 non related people and no headstone
