Accents often play into spelling errors.

She is Verdon on census while in England, but in Ireland she is Vernon.

AMENDED  1921 she is VERNON

AMONDG,
Ah... that could well be an explanation.

On the 1921, is her DoB, birthplace and occupation listed?

Greetings again, and a great many thanks for your continuing interest.
I  have listed this marriage to Margaret Lucy WALLNUTT, with her husband and his brother
but at present I am still concerned about the discrepancy between my VERDON and this family VERNON.
I have [my] Margaret VERDON  on the 1939 register but would like to find her earlier on an electoral roll as I do not have access to the 1921 census.
It has been suggested that the pronounciation is VERDON in England and VERNON in Ireland but I would dearly love to find a reliable continuity in the early 20th century.

I have just found her living in a share house that includes my aunt Dorothy ANSTRUTHER, in 1929.
9 Buckland Crescent, South Hampstead, London, NW3 5DH

Name   Margaret Verdon
Electoral Date   1929
Ward or Division/Constituency   Hampstead
So we are getting closer to a possible 1921 census entry!
Elliot
