Jane Ross McGill and Archibald Brown where did they end up in America ?

Jane Ross McGill was born in Edinburgh December 1880 the daughter of David McGill and Jane Ross .
she married Archibald Brown in Edinburgh in 1900.

They emigrated to America not long afterwards and family rumour has it they went to New York.

I am trying to find if they had any family and where Archibald and she did eventually did stay.

Do you know what his occupation was in 1900?

A family tree has them in New Jersey in 1935 & 1940 and a daughter Joan born in Edinburgh 1901.

   On their marriage cert. he was a rubber worker so I presume he worked in the rubber mill

which until a number of years ago was in the Fountainbridge area of Edinburgh .

He lived in Fountainbridge as well and Jane lived in Bread Street which is all in the same area.

Looking at the tree but it does not give a lot of information from the USA.  This is the only census they refer to in 1940

It is looking like this was Jeanie Gibson Kemp/Brown who lived in Nutley. NJ (not yours)

This was the obit for Archibald Brown passed 1964 - refers to a sister in law Annie Maule - does she ring a bell ?  This Andrew was born in Glasgow

Hi Sandra,
                 No this is not the family I am looking for.
There are two births in Scotland for  Thomas Maule 1919 1921.
 This is the one in America Thomas Rankine Kemp Maule born 1920 in Glasgow son of Andrew Maule and Helen Kemp.

I found Andrew married to Jane Ross on 1871 and 1881 census he was the son of George Brown ( a baker ) and Mary Hardie he was born in Edinburgh.

Yes, I went thru that family to discount them completely.
Sadly the couple you are looking for are elusive at the moment.

Did check the birth 1901 for a daughter.

His father was George Brown and mother Mary Hardie  he was born in Edinburgh  Scotland in

1871 .
